The 1st International Conference on Building Information Modeling (BIM) was held on February 26 & 27, 2018. This event was warmly welcomed by a large audience consisting of experts of BIM area, industrial virtual designers (VDC), academic staff, executive agencies and professional associations.
Dr. Hamed Mazaherian (Under Secretary of the Ministry of Roads and Urban Development) alongside with Hamed Manifar (Director General of the Building Regulations Office), made the opening speeches of the conference while the conference final whistle was made by the speech of Dr. Shekarchizadeh (Head of Roads, Housing & Urban Research Center).
Proceeding to the event, round tables were held concentrating on “the role of governmental agencies on BIM settlement and development in Iran” and “Infrastructures and challenges of BIM settlement in client, consultant and contractor companies”. Following the presentations, presenters led a Q/A session and answered the attendees’ questions.
Some of the workshops consisted of a larger group of attendees and featured international experts around the globe via video-conference.
Workshops were proceeding and more speakers were involved in round table sessions and specialized panels. Dr. Abbass Rajabi Fard, Dean of the Infrastructural Engineering Department of Melbourne University, Dr. Hossein Taghaddos, Faculty member of Tehran University, Dr. Ali Rostami, professor of John Moores University of Liverpool, made speeches.
Training workshops were also parts of the program that also concentrated on the application of BIM in terminated projects. These workshops received large audience as well.
On the closing ceremony, Dr. Mohammad Shekarchizadeh (Head of Roads, Housing & Urban Research Center), made the final speech on “The role and position of the Roads, Housing & Urban Research Center on developing BIM in Iran” and shortly after the ceremony proceeded with awarding the authors of top papers and prostrations, organizers and supporters and other agencies.
Fortunately, the main hall was full with enthusiasm from the keen audience until the very last minute. Taking the education accreditation of the conference into consideration, The Engineering level upgrade exam was held as a finale to the conference.
