Dr. Hamed Mazaherian,
Living in the Information age, the pace of technology development in products and services has augmented in recent years. Passing through the machines and computers era, huge cyber events happen every day. Robots, digital and virtual tools gradually replace humans and machines in any industries and the building industry is no exception. Nowadays, new patterns are shaping modern mechanisms in the industry and Building Information Modeling (BIM) plays a significant role.
The emergence of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and other software and hardware technologies, have opened up new horizons for the building industry in developed countries. The new BIM-based construction culture has assisted innovations in design processes, construction management, production of standard materials, supervision on implementation, building energy management, Health Safety and Environment (HSE), Exploitation and Maintenance of building and etc. and has increased the pace of data processing for decision making of stakeholders and project managers in addition to its fluency and accuracy.
In our country Iran, where engineering knowledge holds a special position in the world, the application of BIM is witnessed in preliminary levels of construction projects. Considering the young workforce and the support of the government, we are intending to implement this technology in the country in order to upgrade the quality of construction, equalizing and standardizing in addition to provide job opportunities in the building industry.
